Importing an account
Overview
You must have access to the existing wallet's Seed Phrase or Private Key in order to import it.
The majority of Ethereum wallets include a 12 word Seed Phrase and Private Key, which serve as the wallet's key. These need to be protected. No wallet service, not even Apex Wallet, can help you retrieve the 12-word recovery phrase.
You can move your wallet from one self-custody wallet provider to another because seed phrases and private keys are portable. You can import any Ethereum-based wallet you may have made with another service, including MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase, and others, into Apex Wallet.
The password you choose for your wallet is provider-specific and cannot be moved to another service, however the Seed Phrase or Private Key is portable. Passwords cannot be recovered by any wallet provider, including Apex Wallet, just like recovery phrases.
Note: when you import an existing wallet using your Seed Phrase or Private Key into Apex Wallet extension, there is no impact on your existing wallet. You will be able to continue using your existing wallet across multiple providers, and any transactions you make will show up in your wallet across all of your wallet providers. By following these instructions, you can ensure your assets are imported to Apex Wallet and that you are acting safely.
How to import your account
Entering your Seed Phrase
- During sign up you can import with your Seed Phrase. You can typically find your Seed Phrase in the Settings menu of most wallets. Copy down your Seed Phrase. This should be 12 words. Keep this safe.
- Create a password to access your wallet. Keep this safe, as you’ll need it to access your wallet regularly. Remember, Apex cannot recover your password for you!
- All done! Your wallet has been imported into the Apex Wallet extension, and is ready to use!

Entering your Private Key

- All done! Your wallet has been imported into the Apex Wallet extension, and is ready to use!

Importing an account post sign-up
- You can always add a previous wallet account to your Apex Wallet. All you need to do is go into “Settings” and import with your Seed Phrase or Private key.

- Once you import your wallet accounts, you will see an account tree with all of your wallets. You can also rename these accounts to your liking.
